42CrMo4 steel is a heat treatable steel which contains at least 0.9% carbon and 0.1% manganese, with the manganese providing the necessary strength. A typical tensile strength of 900-1200 N/mm after quenching and tempering it obtains high strength, good low-temperature impact toughness, and good high strength. The higher carbon and chromium content of 242CrMo4 steel allows it to perform better than 34CrMo4 steel. Similar to AISI 4140, with only a slight difference in Mn,Cr content. As well as having good machinability and wear resistance, this material has poor weldability and temper brittleness.

The steel grade 42CrMo4 Round Bar belongs to the alloy steel category. Forged, round, square, angle, hex, flat, flats, billet, hot-rolled black bar, cold-forged black bar, and forged blocks are some of the products in 42CrMo4 Alloy Steel. As well as normalizing, annealing, quenching and tempering 42CrMo4 Round Bars, we offer a variety of other products.

Compared to other grades of steel, 42CrMo4 Steel offers a high tensile strength as well as high hardness, making it a good choice for applications that require strength and hardness. It is supplied with a certificate of material testing.

Compared to other steel grades, 42CrMo4 has excellent wear and tear resistance, tensile strength, stress resistance, wear and tear resistance, and hardness in quenched and tempered conditions. 42CrMo4 has a higher hardness than other steel grades. 42CrMo4 is found in industries including aircraft, automobiles, automotive, defence, etc. 42CrMo4 can be treated in a number of ways, including normalization, tempering, quenching, etc. As well as chains, screws, gears, arms, rollers and other machine parts, it can also be used for making bearings.

A good quality 42CrMo4 round bar, 42CrMo4 sheets, and other types of good quality 42CrMo4 products can be bought from Tronix alloys. All items purchased from Tronix alloys are tested for a variety of parameters and delivered with a materials test certificate for complete quality assurance.

    42CRMO4 APPLICATION

It is widely used in many industries since 42CrMo4 is extremely durable and strong, making it a good metal to choose.

Components with a high degree of strength and toughness that are designed for tool, automobile, mechanical, and armament components such as gear wheels, pinions, connecting rods, parts that are used in mechanical engineering.

Vehicles, engines, machines, steel parts and parts with a larger cross-section, hammers, crankshafts, gears and a large number of other components that are subjected to static as dynamic stress

There are several grades of steel in the machine building industry that are generally used to manufacture high-strength parts of compressors, turbines, and other heavy ground and underground equipment as well as parts of agricultural machinery.

    Typical Applications:

    Forging :

If possible, heat the metal before hammering.. Then heat it up to 850 to 1200 degrees Celsius before forging. If possible, forge near 850 degrees Celsius. Cool after forging in still air.

    Annealing :

The EN19T should be slowly heated until it reaches 680-700°C. It should then be cooled in the air.

    Hardening :

As this steel grade is commonly supplied ready heat treated, additional heat treatment may be required; annealed EN19 should be heated slowly to 860-890oC and then can be quenched in oil after a sufficient period of soaking at this temperature. The tempering should be carried out as soon as the tool reaches room temperature.

    Tempering :

If tempering is not done correctly, heat carefully up to a suitable temperature using a tempering chart or table as a guide. Soak at the temperature for two hours for every 25mm of ruling section, then cool it in the air. It is not recommended to temper between 250 and 375oC as tempering within this range will result in a reduction in impact value.

    Heat Treatment :

A number of factors, such as the shape and size of the steel component, will have an effect on the temperature during heat treatment as well as how long the steel component should soak. You should also take into account the type of furnace, the quenching medium, and the facilities for transferring the workpiece during the heat treatment process. Please contact your heat treatment provider for full guidance regarding the heat treatment of EN19T alloy steel.
