En9 Low Alloy Steel Plates are manufactured in bright, cold conditions in order to comply with BS 970 grade standards. In general engineering, EN9 is commonly used for shafts, axes, knives, bushes, crankshafts, screws, sickles, woodworking drills, and hammers.
A medium carbon steel grade, EN9 is often supplied in the as-rolled condition and is a medium carbon steel grade. During flame or induction hardening, the steel produces excellent surface hardness and wear resistance, both of which are high for a carbon steel grade. EN9 bar can be ordered as full lengths or as a cut to your requirements. Flame-cut steel plates for EN9 carbon round steel bars are available in a variety of sizes and can be normalized. Flame-cut plates can be provided by Lumsden ground or precision ground, depending on the requirements of the customer.
