This alloy has a very high resistance to embrittlement caused by sigma phase precipitation as well as chloride stress corrosion cracks due to its high nickel content (30%). Overall, the alloy has a great corrosion resistance.
When compared to Incoloy 800, its chemistry allows it to show a much higher creep resistance. There is a marginal difference between the alloy 800ht Square Bar and the alloy 800 H Square Bar in that there is a higher percentage of aluminium and titanium in the alloy 800ht Square Bar, which is a result of a higher aluminum and titanium content in the square bar.
On the 1.4859 flat bar, chromium forms a passivated oxide layer which effectively reduces the possibility of decay through oxidation because chromium forms a passivated oxide layer on its surface. As for nickel, on the other hand, it is known that nickel improves the resistance of Inconel 800HT Round Bar to reductive compounds, as well as to corrosion caused by halogen-containing solutions.
