EN1APb / 230M07Pb is a low carbon leaded free cutting steel with a consistently excellent machinability. Due to the addition of lead as well as the high phosphorus and sulfur levels, the machinability of the material is greatly improved with little impact on its mechanical properties.
There is a high sulfur and lead content in the material, which makes welding unsafe. Electroplating is possible with En1APb / 230M07Pb, but hot dip galvanizing is not possible. Used extensively in automatic screw machines for manufacturing parts requiring considerable machine work and close tolerances.

En1a Leaded Steel En1a Leaded Steel are low carbon free cutting engineering mild steels. It has additional sulphur and lead added so as to enable easy machining. They are most suitable and used mainly in automatic and CNC machines in bright form. It is also used extensively in automatic screw machines / traub machines for manufacturing parts requiring considerable machining and close tolerances. It gives superior finish. One of the major used is to make hydraulic pipe fittings.
A lubricating effect is created by the addition of lead and the high Sulphur and Phosphorous levels. Consequently, machinability is greatly improved with little effect on mechanical properties. Due to the high sulfur and lead content, welding is not recommended.

It is a low carbon steel, EN1A LEADED 230M07Pb, ideally suited to high speed machining of multiturned components. Consistent quality and maximum tool life are ensured through controlled analysis. To prevent machine blockage, swarf will form in small chips. Adding lead to steel will enhance machinability. EN1APb/230Mo7Pb has a consistently excellent level of machinability, despite being a low carbon steel with a lead content. With lead added along with high levels of phosphorous and sulfur, a lubricating effect is formed, improving machinability without affecting mechanical properties.
What is EN1A Leaded?
The EN1APb / 230M07Pb cutting steel is a low carbon lead-free cutting steel that can be brightly drawn or smooth turned and has a consistently excellent level of machinability. As a result of the addition of lead and the high levels of sulfur and phosphorous, the lead forms a lubricating effect on the material, resulting in greatly improved machinability with little effect on the mechanical properties of the material. As a result, this steel is particularly suitable for free cutting when a large number of products need to be produced. As EN1A can be rolled or drawn, it can be machined on both automatic and CNC machines, and it can be formed by rolling or drawing methods.
Because of the high sulfur and lead content in this material, welding is not recommended.
It is possible to electroplate En1APb / 230M07Pb, but it is not suitable for hot dip galvanizing due to its high conductivity.

Packing process for stainless steel EN1A Leaded Round Bar.
In order to ensure quality, Tronixalloy.com focuses on every step in the process. A surface wash and cleaning process is applied to AISI Stainless Steel EN1A Leaded Round bars to remove all impurities. After that, the bars and rods are wrapped in thin plastic. In a wooden box or container, the Stainless Steel Grade EN1A Leaded Round Bars are packed with an outer rope for protection.
Stainless Steel EN1A Leaded Round Bar Heat Treatment
- Carbonization of EN1A bright mild steel takes place at 900-950 o C then it is a furnace or air-cooled.
- En1A can be tempered at 180-210 o C and then should be left to cool in the air.
- The mild steel can be hardened at 780-800 o C and then quenched in oil or water. However, this is difficult to do with EN1A and is not recommended.
Tempering:
