It also has high mechanical properties at elevated temperatures. Nickel-chromium alloy with aluminum added for outstanding resistance to oxidation and high temperature corrosion.
The composition of Inconel 601 is similar to that of Inconel 600, but it is differentiated by the addition of aluminum. Using Inconel 601 with aluminum creates a higher oxidation resistance than Inconel 600, which is often used in general-purpose engineering for high-temperature environments.
Thermal capacity, industrial heat conditions, and other operations requiring heat are common applications; this metal is not affected by heat treatments or conditions. Inconel 601 can also be found in water environments; it has high corrosion resistance. Like Inconel 600, Inconel 601 only responds to cold-working practices and its mechanical properties make it suitable for many applications. It is therefore a super alloy or high-performance alloy.
Similar to Inconel 600, Inconel 601 is also not recommended for environments with high levels of sulfur due to its nickel content which causes sulfurization. It is commonly traded as Alloy 601 or Nickel 601.

As a nickel-chromium alloy, Inconel 601 provides enhanced corrosion and oxidation resistance. It is used in many industries and systems. They don’t easily deform or disorient under pressure or temperature. In addition to its high resistance to carburization, Inconel 601 has excellent metallurgical stability. This grade of Inconel 601 is also highly strong and has excellent mechanical properties.
As a minimum, they have a tensile strength of 80,000 PSI and a yield strength of 30,000 PSI. The material can be easily elongated by a minimum of 35% in several systems. They are widely used in chemical industries, aerospace, power generation, heat and radiant treatment systems, superheaters, and so on. We are the leading Inconel 601 suppliers in India. We strive to supply high-quality products at affordable prices.
As well as possessing excellent creep-rupture properties, Inconel Alloy 601 has an excellent melting point of around 1411 degrees C. The alloys are easily machined or fabricated and have excellent creep-rupture properties. Inconel 601 prices per kilogram are dependent on the grade and thickness of the material. They are usually available for Rs-2500 to Rs-2700. Our outlets can provide you with a complete price quote.
We are the Alloy 601 suppliers who can customize all our products in different chemical make-up, shapes, and sizes as per your requirements. Our products are manufactured under the strict supervision of our experienced workers. We use the best raw materials and the latest technology to produce the best products on the market. Feel free to contact us for more information about our products or their pricing.

Oxidation Resistance
Despite its high temperature oxidation resistance, Inconel 601 resists both oxidation and spalling at temperatures up to 1260°C. Even under severe conditions, the protective oxide coating resists scaling. The alloy is also resistant to carburisation and nitridation. Because of its poor resistance to sulfur, it should not be used in atmospheres containing sulfur, particularly reducing sulfur.
Pressure Vessels
ASME Section VIII (Code case 1500) qualifies Inconel 601 for use in pressure vessels up to 480°C. AS1210 does not prequalify Inconel 601.
Corrosion Resistance
As with Inconel 600, Inconel 601 has excellent corrosion resistance to mineral acids. Due to its high nickel content, Inconel 601 resists chloride stress corrosion cracking well as sodium hydroxide solutions. After heating in the range 540 – 760°C, Inconel 601 can be sensitised to intergranular corrosion in some aggressive media. For specific applications, please contact Austral Wright Metals.
Fabrication
Stainless steel 601 is readily hot worked. Inconel 601 must be clean prior to heating and should not be heated in an atmosphere high in sulfur. Cold forming this alloy is similar to austenitic stainless steel. Intermediate annealing may be required for work hardening in cold forming.
Machinability
Heavy machines, sharp tools, slow speeds, and deep cuts are required to remove the work hardened layer on Inconel 601 as a ‘C’ class alloy.
Weldability
The Inconel 601 alloy is readily weldable by the SMAW (manual), GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG) and SAW processes. Preheat and post weld heat treatments are not Argon is used as the shielding gas to prevent contamination of the weld pool.

Heat Treatment
Inconel 601 is solution annealed at 1100 – 1180°C and cooled rapidly to avoid sensitivity to intergranular corrosion. The annealing time should be short to prevent excessive grain growth.
Other Aspects and Advantages Of Inconel 601
Because of its internal microstructure, the nickel alloy has a high degree of metallurgical stability and no embrittling intermetallic phases.
Inconel 601 alloy has a high nickel and chromium content, making it extremely resistant to corrosion at high temperatures, with an oxidation resistance of up to 2200°F (1200°C).
Additionally, it resists oxide spalling under cyclic thermal conditions, which makes it unique among similar alloys. Despite repeated exposure to temperature, the alloy forms a protective oxide coating that prevents scaling. This property is Nickel Inconel 601 alloy is resistant to carburization and carbonitriding.
